Thoughts on evolution, geology and fracking

I've been thinking alot about the sedimentary layers and the Great Flood of Noah's time and fossils, oil and coal and fracking which is keeping gas prices down. yeah I have weird thoughts. Here's the one that keeps rearing it's silty head: if the fossil record is right and everything happened slowly over time and the layers of the earth formed slowly over time and the fossils were created slowly over time, then somehow in the long lost past, the entire world was covered in sandstone... after all... oh wait...
you know, there's this crazy story about a dude named Noah and how, because mankind had taken debauchery to new heights and made their Creator terribly angry, enough so to wipe the slate clean, Noah built a huge boat called an Ark according to God's instructions. Because it was essentially a barge and the only point was to keep a limited number of people and animals alive, it didn't have to be made like a luxury liner. Noah was able to effectively become the first hero of mankind.
But more onto the science-y stuff relating to dirt. So we have a whole lot of dirt, minerals, metals, and different kind of rock strata in very specific and understandable layers, right on top of each other all over the world. Evolutionists believe that everything happened over time and that's why we have fossils and oil and coal.......
and then reality rears it's beautiful face.
Coal is formed when plant and animal matter (organic matter) gets squished and heated and dried out. The force required to form coal is understood because scientists have figured out how to make it in a lab, and with even more heat and pressure, diamonds can be made...
Oil is formed in a very similar matter to coal, except with more water content. Coal and oil are all over the world, in fact, one of the biggest debates and reasons why Gasoline prices are so low right now is because with the ability to move around large, extremely hard rock layers (fracking) we have access to much greater deposits of oil than ever before.
So the ultimate question needs to be asked... "where did all the oil and coal come from?" I thought you'd never ask!!!
Before the Great Flood, the entire world was covered with flora and fauna. I believe (unprovable, but there are theories and evidence) that there was a great canopy of water or ice in our highest atmosphere. It had a two fold effect on the Earth. 1. Everything grew HUGE because it effectively doubled atmospheric pressure. (Think hyperbaric chamber) and 2. It protected the world from all those harmful UV rays and cosmic rays (think Fantastic 4) and who knows what else.
Think of it like this, in order to have the sheer volumes of "fossil fuels" that we have, there must have been an enormous amount of flora and fauna all over the Earth at one time.
Thoughts... what are yours?
